I Once Was Lost...

This morning we were sharing lost and found stories. I think there is something about finding things that were lost that resonates deeply within each of us. It's exciting to find what you thought was gone. There is great joy in finding what you have been looking for and hoping to find. God is passionate about the lost being found. Jesus told the parable of the lost sheep and how the shepherd left the 99 sheep to find the 1 that had been lost.

Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (Luke 15:3-7)

We sing songs of praise about how God found us when we were lost - Amazing Grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now I'm found, was blind but now I see. The next time you find something you thought you had lost - remember how much God loves you - if you are lost, he wants you to be found - He will joyfully carry you home.
