"We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed." --2 Corinthians 4:8-9
This morning we were talking about dealing with discouragement. I've definitely had moments of feeling discouraged lately. It seems like no matter how much we know what is true - that God has a plan and that He will provide - in the moments where we begin to feel despair, desperation, and depression, those can seem like trite words. I'm thankful that God lifts our head (Psalm 3:3), gives us a firm place to stand (Psalm 40:2), and provides hope in the midst of despair (Psalm 42:5) ecause life happens. In this world we will have trouble, but we can still have hope. If you've been there (or maybe you are struggling with that today), listen to what some of our listeners have to say about dealing with discouragement:
"But you, LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high."
"He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand."
"Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God."
